This rare, medium grain sticky rice is hand-harvested in the high elevation terraces surrounding Banaue, Ifugao, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Minimal milling of this heirloom variety leaves flecks of dark brown and rust red bran intact on the milky white grain. Traditionally served in festive desserts, the nutty whole grains can add color and texture to almost any dish. The cooked rice is a light purple color.
